In the United States alone it is estimated that between 850 million, and over a billion toothbrushes, representing more than 50 million pounds of waste, is discarded and ends up in landfills every single year.
Most Toothbrushes are made from a combination of plastic (made from crude oil) and rubber for the hand piece, and non biodegradable nylon for the bristles. They remain in landfills indefinitely and even worse, they end up in our oceans, washed up on our beaches or consumed by marine life. If they are burnt, they release a combination of toxic and greenhouse gases.

The Secret
Let’s take a look at your toothbrush and how you brush your teeth:
Toothbrushes are designed with a thumb rest and a handle for your 4 fingers to grasp. Your elbow is automatically raised high, and your arm is parallel to the floor forming a power grip.
When you use this power grip it doesn’t matter if you brush up and down, back and forth, round and round, in small circles, or even at 45 degrees; you will always be scrubbing. Scrubbing away the protective enamel from your teeth.
It’s holding your toothbrush in that power grip that leads to many dental problems; toothbrush abrasion, painful sensitive teeth and gum recession.
